I was shocked by how confused Todd goldens squad looked at this zone. This hasnt exactly been vintage Cuse zone and I figured Todd would figure it out eventually

I agree that Pierce's three was the most important shot of the game, but the drive and layup he made before that three is what really excites me about Pierce. He went among the trees and made a really difficult layup look routine in my opinion. Not many teams are going to have the size that Florida had on that play around the rim. He used his height and speed to beat Haugh (6'9") and Chinyelu (6'10") with I think Condon (6'11") lurking. If he can continue to make plays like those, he is gong to really help open up the offense. I also loved seeing those two free throws go in with nothing but net after missing his initial two free throws earlier in the game.

I have a soft spot for Pierce and am a shameless promoter of his. I was so disappointed when his injury dragged on because my whole theory of this year's team was that it was going to exceed expectations because Pierce was going to make a jump and be a 13 point/6 rebound guy who basically made life a lot better for Robinson and Mitchell. Still think that's mostly possible, but I'm sure there'll be games where the lack of offseason prep will hamper him a bit.

Great film breakdown, very instructive to see the game slowed down and analyzed.
